I love Solvang | Santa Clarita Photographer

If you have never visited Solvang, please mark your calendar for this weekend to visit this beautiful town. Solvang offers a taste of Denmark in California. So once you get to Solvang, you'll feel you're in the Danish town :) from the clog shoes until Aebleskiver (people say aebleskiver is a Danish pancake), everything looks so pretty.
I have several times visited Solvang, I think this city is heaven for photographers. All angles in this town are photogenic. When I was there, I could not stop taking pictures until my husband asked me to stop taking picture and enjoy the trip :).
The only down side of this town is the price of lodging there, is kinda expensive. But if you live in Los Angeles or Santa Barbara area I don't think it's gonna be a problem. From our home, it takes 2 hours driving to get there with a beautiful scenery along the freeway.

These are some of my favorite pictures when we're in Solvang:

Long line for the Aebleskiver

So what do you think about Solvang?

Another day with The Van Soerens | San Fernando Valley Family Photographer

Just like they promised me before, they wanted to have another photo session since their son fell asleep during the first session (awww...too cute). So we decided to do it 2 days before they leave LA and back to Holland. I came to the condo and they picked the location around the pool site. Good choice since that day was pretty hot.
The session went very well. I took some great potraits. J's husband also planning to use some of the images for his business website as a DJ. Pretty cool..Yes?!
Thank you again J &H. It was pleasure working with you.

The Browns | Malibu Family Portraits Photographer

I got the chance to take pictures of this happy family. Photo session took place on the coast of Malibu. When I came to the beach, I was a little bit worried with the very thick fog around the site. Does the weather will affect the images?...I learned the weather doesn't affect the beauty of this family that I captured through my camera view finder. All pictures turned out really well.

J & S Thank you for letting me photograph your beautiful family!

Fields of Gold (Santa Clarita Family and Children Photographer)

Today my daughter and I had a playdate with our friends in the park. My friend had invited us to see the train rails because our kids love train. We went through the Paseo trail. Pretty fun trip. The sun shone brightly but the wind was blowing gentle breeze. While waiting for a passing train, we sat sheltering under a bridge, telling stories and nibling some snacks. I always pass through this area but never even know this trail. Scenery is also very beautiful. Got home, of course we all get tired. Legs stiff from a long trip and my daughter has been taking nap for 2 hours and has yet to get up from her nap.

Family Portrait Session | Woodland Hills Family Photographer

On Thursday, I got a phone call from a friend who lives in Netherlands. They're on vacation here in LA. She said she'd like to have a family portrait session with me on Friday and of course I said yes! :) We went to Lake Balboa (again, I know..I like this park). It was nice and warm on that day, not too crowded either. I think J, my friend liked the place. She said she'd go to this park again to have a picnic with her family. For the session, I also brought bubbles for little Gregory, their 18 months year old son. He loved the bubbles and of course bubbles always makes children smiles and giggling. After taking lots of shots then we moved to the playground area. We planned to go back to the apt for a session in the swimming pool, but their little boy fell asleep. So we decided to do another session before they leave LA. It was fun. I had a good time. thank you Van Soeren Family!

Lemon Cupcakes (Food Photographer)

These lemon cupcakes are so good. Recipe courtesy of Joy of Baking. For the frosting, instead of vanilla extract and milk, I used 3 tbsp of lemon juices.

2/3 cup (130 grams) granulated white sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Zest of 1 large lemon (optional)
1 1/2 cups (195 grams) all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (60 ml) milk

Buttercream Frosting:
2 cups (230 grams) confectioners sugar (icing or powdered sugar), sifted
1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk or light cream

Assorted food colors (if desired)
Lemon Zest - The yellow outer rind of the lemon that contains the fruit's flavor and perfume. The rind being the outer skin of the lemon which consists of both the yellow zest and white membrane (pith).

Maternity & Children Photo Session ~ Los Angeles Maternity & Children Photographer

I had a maternity & children session with my friend Jen and her two adorable kids on Sunday afternoon at Lake Balboa in San Fernando Valley. It was hot and sunny day, but good thing the kids were cooperate with us. They waited patiently and smile every time I shuttered my camera. The little girl soon to be a big sister, M, she was born to be photographed. You don't need to ask her to smile or pose. She would happily do it without you ask her. The session was only an hour or so then we headed to the ice cream truck for a sponge bob ice cream!
